Our Staff:

Fr. Ronald E. Shibley, Vicar

Father Ronald E. Shibley is our vicar.  Fr. Ron was born on August 26, 1942 in Fredericksburg, VA, where he attended public school.  He holds a B.S. in History from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, VA (1964), an M.A. in History from the University of Virginia (1966), and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia (1972).  He and his wife Corkie reside in Mechanicsville, VA, a ten minute drive from St. Joseph's Villa Chapel.  He and Corkie have two grown children, both married with one child each, Laurie S. Throckmorton, Goochland, VA, and Christopher Shibley, Dayton, TN.

Fr. Ron is an independent financial advisor and an avid gardener.  Flowers from the Shibley garden in Mechanicsville meet our Church's needs from mid-April through mid-November.  He is the published author of three non-fiction books on his home town; a Compiler and Editor of Prayers in the Christian Tradition, a 100-page collection of prayers from the first through the 20th Centuries; the editor and compiler of the St. Chrysostom Hymnal;  and is presently completing The Prayer Book Psalter: History, Text and Commentary, which will be available in the pews at St. Chrysostom Anglican Church this Fall.  He is also the Editor of Glad Tidings, the quarterly news magazine of the UECNA, and Editor/Site Manager of the national web site of the UECNA.

Fr. Ron is available for personal consultation by appointment or by visiting him during Vicar's Open House on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.

H. Click Smith, Sr., Lay Reader

H. Click Smith, Sr. is our Senior Warden and Lay Reader.  Click is a retired public servant with experience in disability training, teaching and counseling.  He has worked extremely hard on the restoration of the plaster capitals in the Chapel and on re-conditioning the exterior doors of the Chapel.  Each Thursday afternoon you will find him waxing, polishing and cleaning pews, or sweeping the floors, or polishing the altar, or whatever else needs doing to keep the Chapel looking good.

Happy 30th Birthday

The Continuing Church celebrated its 30th birthday on Monday, January 28th.  On this same date thirty years ago in Denver CO, the Most Reverend C. Dale David Doren was consecrated the first Bishop of the UEC.  The UECNA was founded the following year.

Archbishop Doren is now 90 years old.  His birthday greeting to all of us in the UEC and in the other two Continuing Churches (the ACC and APCK) follows.  We thank Archbishop Doren for his many years of service and know that he shares our desire to restore communion and strong relations between the UEC, the ACC and the APCK.

A representative of the UECNA recently attended the installation ceremony for the new Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Christ the King (APCK) in California.  Our message of friendship and cooperation was well-received by the current and former leaders of the APCK.  The UEC and the Anglican Catholic Church (ACC) have already signed intercommunion agreements.

Here is the birthday greeting from The Most Reverend C. Dale David Doren.

Our Church is truly a body of those followers who are faithful to Christ and His saving Grace.  It is by God's Grace that we continue today.  We need to remain sacramentally aware of God's loving direction for us and act with honesty and truth as we worship our Lord.
Despite all the problems of the modern world, we hold fast to our faith and belief that God has a divine plan for us all.  We must believe that everything is working perfectly according to God's plan, even in the face of adversity.
Never forget that our Lord is faithful to those who make it their mission to devote their lives to Him and His teachings, to first love God and second to love one another.  We welcome fellowship with others who also hold to these beliefs.
I will continue to remember you in my prayers as we pray and affirm together that "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."  I send you my love and blessings and thank God for your devotion and continuance in the faith.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
the Most Reverend C. Dale David Doren
